William "Doug" Karr's Obituary
William “Doug” Karr, 72, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Doug was born August 9, 1947, in Decatur, to Harold Dale and Doris Marie (Scribner) Karr. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He married Carol Ann Blaylock on December 23, 1966, in Decatur. He was a Boiler Technician for 30 years with Firestone. He enjoyed hunting, fixing things and he was a motorcyclist enthusiast.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Carol; his son, Eric (Megan) Karr of Long Creek; his mother, Doris Karr of Arthur; his grandson, Kyle Karr; his step-grandchildren, Jaycee (Tyler) Andrews and Riley Taylor; his step-great-granddaughter, Mackinlee Andrews; and his sister, Carol (Mike) DeBrun of Cleveland, TN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Mario Velasco and the nurses at Cancer Care; his family, friends and neighbors for all their help during his illness and his lifelong friend, Don Renfro.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Doug Karr will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday before the services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
