Decatur-William S. 'Bill' Maddox Jr., 78, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Cryptside services to celebrate Bill's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Mary Queen Angels Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. The 'Flight Home' Ceremony will conclude the service.
Bill was born September 20, 1933 in West Frankfort, Illinois, the son of William and Elsie (Halbert) Maddox Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was previously employed as a union carpenter working in Illinois and California. Bill loved spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and watching western movies. He married Virginia Spencer July 18, 1981.
He leaves behind his wife Ginger, son Steve and wife Allison of Santa Paul, CA, daughters Christina Sliney and husband Kevin of Warrensburg, Diana Gunn of West Lake, OR, and Cinda Garcia of Warrensburg, brother Wayne Maddox, sister Judy Maddox, fifteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons David Maddox and Scott Garcia, and great-grandson Nick.
