William Harold McBee's Obituary
William Harold McBee, 73, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
William was born October 22, 1941 in Tampa, Florida, the son of William Thomas and Georgia (Jenkins) McBee. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air core during the Korean War. He was later employed as a security officer in California, Idaho, Illinois, and in Missouri. William married Alice Teubner on October 14, 1963. Out of this union, there were born Georgia Marie (Carlos) Ledesma, Judy Hedges, Jeff McBee, all of Decatur, and Lisa McConnell of Milford, Delaware. William married Ruth Anne (Mares) on October 23, 1982. They had one daughter, Stephanie Renee (Alex) Montgomery of Nampa, Idaho. Brother, Mike Swartz of Decatur and eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Larry Swartz and Donald Swartz.
William will be greatly missed by all of his family. He was known to all as “Illini Bill”. His favorite saying was “I live and breathe Orange Kool-Aid”! He was a lifelong Illini Fan!
Graveside services to celebrate William’s life will be 10am, Wednesday July 8, 2015 in Graceland Cemetery, and conclude with military honors. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Veteran’s Administration.
