William "Bill" Michael Ganley's Obituary
William “Bill” Michael Ganley, 76, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, at his home with his family by his side.
Bill was born November 20, 1939, in Champaign, IL to Joseph and Mary (Giblin) Ganley. He graduated from Newton High School in 1958. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Bill married Coline Buckles Williams on December 6, 1974 in Peoria, IL. He was an electrician for St. Mary’s Hospital for 36 years and retired in 2006. He was always willing to go back and help even after retiring.
Bill was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society). He loved flying, gardening, animals (domestic and wild), sports, and most of all, being a grandpa. Bill was a gentle and tender hearted man who loved his family more than words could say.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Coline; three children, Darin (Lisa) Williams of Arvada, CO, Damon (Cindy) Williams of Fillmore, IL and Deana (Tony) Hyde of Cerro Gordo, IL; five grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, JD, Jesse Williams and Cora Hyde; three brothers, Neil (Betty) Ganley of Decatur, IL, John (Diana) Ganley of West Monroe, LA, Terry (Ann) Ganley of St. Paul, MO; one sister, Margie (Rick) Topper of Albuquerque, NM; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Ganley of Corpus Christie, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Ganley.
The family would like to thank the dedicated friends Bill made, Dr. James Wade and Staff of the Cancer Care Center of Decatur, Decatur Memorial Home Health Care, and Decatur Memorial Hospice.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, with Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant. Inurnment will follow the mass at Graceland Cemetery, Star of Hope Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to Cancer Care Center of Decatur, Decatur Memorial Home Health Care, or Decatur Memorial Hospice.
