Decatur-William Frederick Ridge, 85, of Decatur, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 05, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate Bill's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N. Edward, with Father James Palakudy Celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Inurnment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Bill was born July 26, 1925 in Bedford, Indiana the son of Coleman and Christina Ridge. He proudly served his country in the Navy during W.W. II. Before his retirement he was Club Manager and Bartender at the Elks and Moose Lodges. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He married Jacquelyn Simpkins October 31, 1976.
He leaves behind Jacquelyn his beloved wife of over thirty-four years, son, Dale Ridge and wife Judy of Grafton, Ohio, daughter, Debbie Robertson and husband Randy of Decatur, sister, Suzy of Bedford, Indiana, granddaughter, Amy Ridge of Grafton, Ohio, stepsons, Charles Goad of Indianapolis, Indiana and Robert Wagers and wife Shawna of Argenta, stepdaughters, Jeanne Hackney and husband Burl of Decatur and Pamela Roberts and husband Ron of Mt. Zion, step-grandchildren, Katrina, Candy, Charlie, John, Joe, Andrew, and Aaron, and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, four brothers, and two stepsons.
