William R. Simpson's Obituary
Decatur-William R. Simpson, 69, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1944 in Harvey, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Charlotte (Beery) Simpson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was previously employed as a carman with the Norfolk Southern Railroad retiring after thirty years of service. He enjoyed model trains and skeet shooting. He married Judy K. Morgan in 1978. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He leaves behind his son Aaron Royer and wife Michelle of Decatur, granddaughter Amanda Royer of Decatur, great-grandson AnthonyRay Tuttle of Decatur, sisters Jeanne Anderson of San Antonio, Texas and Elaine Koch and husband Dennis of Washington, Illinois, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Graveside services to celebrate Bill's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Friends Creek Cemetery.
