William V. Spires' Obituary
Decatur – William V. Spires, 87 of Decatur, passed on to eternal life surrounded by his
loving family on Wednesday Jan.21, 2009 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Spires will be Saturday Jan. 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery Longcreek with the FLIGHT HOME ceremony
to follow. Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Mr. Spires was born in Bethany, Illinois on October 21, 1921 the son of Charles H and Velma E. (McBride) Spires. He proudly served his country in U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Illinois Power Co. in the electric meter dept. retiring after 38 years of service. He married Virginia Lee Mayfield on August 31, 1968 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife Virginia, of Decatur, Daughter; Teresa Spires Sexton, of Charleston, Ill. Grandson; Charles William Sexton of Cerro Gordo. Granddaughters: Ronette Frank and long time significant other Brent Hawkins of Decatur, Regina and Mark Janes of Charleston , and Delrene and Tony Hunter of Kansas, Ill. Fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
