William Russell Winter Jr.'s Obituary
William Russell Winter Jr., known to many as Bill, passed away on April 13, 2024, in Decatur, Illinois, at the age of 75.
Bill was born to William and Della (Carvill) Winter on September 7, 1948, in Decatur. He attended Eisenhower High School.
He married Janet Winter on October 17, 1970, in Roselle, Ill. He spent his entire career at A.E. Staley/Tate & Lyle.
Bill cherished his family deeply and was always willing to help them, even at his own sacrifice. He enjoyed spending time taking his dog, Stretch, to the dog park, dining at nice restaurants with family and friends, playing card games, watching judge shows on TV and quiet days at home.
Bill is survived by his son Jim Winter, four grandchildren and his beloved companion, Stretch, brother David (Kathy) Winter, and niece Stacey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Winter, and his son, Andrew Winter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County in Bill’s name.
Services to celebrate the life of Bill Winter will be 10am Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Monday, April 22, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
