Wilma Nadine Gessford's Obituary
Wilma Nadine Gessford, 86, of Decatur passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family.
Wilma was born on January 29, 1931 in Lee Town, KY. the daughter of Plutarch and Zephie (Belcher) Kitchens. She married Stanley E. Gessford on December 13, 1949 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1997. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are her sons, Floyd E Gessford (Bonnie) of Millstadt; David E. Gessford of Decatur; Craig E. Gessford of Decatur; brothers, Richard and Ronald; grandchildren, Matthew Gessford (Cori), Jacob Gessford, Jennifer Phillips (Verneil), Daniel Gessford, and Abriana Gessford (Katie); and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Mark Gessford, daughter-in-law Bonnie Mae Gessford, brothers Thurman and James, and sisters Eileen, Bernice, Mildred, and Patricia.
The family would like to send a heartfelt gratitude to DMH Hospice, Lynette Eckhardt, Mary Gessford, Annette Russo, and Deanna Royer for all their care of Wilma.
Funeral service to celebrate Wilma life will be 11 AM Friday, August 4, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday in the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Fairlawn Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Mark Gessford Memorial Scholarship Fund.
