Wilma "Arlene" Penn's Obituary
Wilma “Arlene” Penn, affectionately known by family as “B.B.,” 95, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on April 1, 2024, in Imboden Creek Nursing Home. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandy (Tom) Johnson, of Orange Park, Florida, and Teresa (Kevin) Rappé, of Decatur, Illinois. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Scott (Lesley) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Chad (Sheila) Rappé, and Kimberly (Robert) Schuman, as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Wilma is preceded in death by her mother Ova “Lee” Wright and father Miles Lee, one brother, and one granddaughter.
Wilma was born to Miles and Ova on November 12, 1928. She was married to Henry Shore Penn on August 3, 1947, at the Staley Clubhouse in Decatur, Illinois. Wilma and Henry were married for 63 years before his passing in 2010. Wilma worked for S&H Green Stamps Store in Decatur, Illinois for many years. In her spare time, Wilma loved bowling, as well as playing bingo, doing jigsaw puzzles, and arts and crafts. She was a beloved member of the Central Christian Church. Wilma was a caring and loving soul, a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was always excited to spend time with loved ones. She will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank Imboden Creek Nursing Home and staff for all the care they gave to her while she was there.
Visitation for Wilma will be from 3-5pm on Sunday, April 7, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10am on Monday, April 8, also at the funeral home. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery will follow the service.
