Wilson P. White's Obituary
Decatur-Wilson P. White Sr., 98, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Heartland of Decatur.
Wilson was born November 7, 1917 in Oakland, Illinois, the son of Walter and Alice (Allison) White. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a custodian with the Decatur Public School District #61 at Stephen Decatur High School retiring after twenty-seven years of service. He married Betty Thurston November 30, 1939. They shared over seventy-six years together.
Wilson leaves behind his wife Betty of Decatur, children Carol (Robert) Watson, Joanne (Donald) Babcock, and Wilson (Linda) White Jr. all of Decatur, sisters Alice Woodrum and Donna Logan, grandchildren Mike (Ramona) Davis, David Babcock, Kevin (Celia) Babcock, Gregory (Barbara) Babcock, Kelly Cheever, and Jason White, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Willis White, and sisters Vera Bailey and Juanita Hawkins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Nurses, CNAs, and staff with Heartland of Decatur and Safe Haven Hospice for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Wilson’s life will be 10 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Banning officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM prior to the services. Burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Safe Haven Hospice.
