Winagene Sue Brewer's Obituary
Winagene Sue Brewer, age 84, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.
As per Winnie’s request, there will be no funeral service. To honor her memory, a celebration of life will be held with family and friends.
She was born on October 17, 1939, in Beecher City, IL to the late John and Wilma (Barr) Wonus. She married Edgar Hubert Brewer on February 14, 1960. They shared over 64 years together.
She is survived by her husband Edgar, and three children: Teresa Maue (Nick), Wentzville, MO, Dana Covey, Sterling, IL, and Curtis Brewer (Lori), Forsyth, IL; grandchildren Daniel Maue of St. Louis, MO, John (Ashley) Maue of Florissant, MO, Benjamin Covey of Sterling, IL, Isabella Covey of Milwaukee, WI, Hayley Creath of Fort Smith, AR, and Lindsay Creath, Carbondale, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Nicole Agnew.
Winnie was a talented seamstress and was employed by Elite Draperies for several years. She lived a life of public service volunteering countless hours with the March of Dimes, Rock Springs Nature Center, and the Macon County Senior Center. Winnie was a fun-loving and caring individual who had a passion for jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She rarely missed watching Jeopardy or an Ilini basketball game.
Her family would like to thank her good friend Mary Margaret Robinson, and the staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their support and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Macon County Animal Shelter in her honor.
