Winnifred Beatrice Toren's Obituary
Winnifred Beatrice Toren, 96, of Monticello passed away on August 27, 2014 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Winnifred was born April 19, 1918, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Peter Clarence and Elsa Francis (Gerlich) Thime. A 1938 graduate of Wright Junior College, she worked for Gerard Steel Strapping as a bookkeeper until she married John Edward Toren on June 11, 1949 in Chicago, IL.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Toren of Chicago, Gwendolyn Toren of White Heath, and Jocelyn Toren of Wyomissing, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren (Tara, Michael, and Christopher Rudisill; Emily and Molly Bolek) and three great-grandchildren (Margaret, Claire, and Audrey Bandstra). She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, and two sisters (Laverne Larson and Marilyn Jandrists).
In her retirement years, she had a great many interests, including her family, genealogy, baking, needlework, puzzling, and reading. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
