Yolanda Harris' Obituary
Yolanda (Loni)J. Harris, 98, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2024.
Yolanda was born May 27th, 1926 in Coshocton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Teresa and Dominico Cosmar.
She married George L. Harris Sr. July 4, 1958 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death January 4, 2005. The were married 47 years.
She is survived by two sons, George L. Harris Jr. and wife Jennifer of Mt. Zion and David C. Harris of Springfield, IL, and had two step-daughters, Gale Longmeyer and Cheri Wehmhoff of Springfield, IL. She had 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Loni was preceded in death by her husband, George, parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Loni was a member of St. Thomas Church in Decatur and valued her faith greatly. She was an avid Ohio State “Buckeyes” fan. She was proud of her Italian heritage. Loni loved showing people the LIFE magazine that she was on the cover of in 1946.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mason Point, Shelbyville Rehabilitation/Healthcare and Traditions Healthcare for caring for Loni over the last few years.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated with a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church on August 8, 2024 at 10am with a private burial at Camp Butler to follow at 2pm.
