I'll always remember Richard taking a screwdriver and poking holes in the muffler of Art's new 1964 Buick Wildcat so it would sound better when you tromped on the gas. Art was not happy about all this of course. We went to grade school together, but although Richard did not go to high school with us we always considered him a part of the class.

RIP Mr. Hartwig, You did a good job with the parks. I know you had as much fun chasing us after dark thru the woods behind Kawanis park , as we did running and hiding. You are remembered. Thanks ! Pat Hazelrigg

Family – Sorry to read of Richard's death; just hope he is now at Peace. I went to school at Blue Mound when he did and also worked with him at the Court House in later years. He was a good guy, but never wanted to 'cross him'. God Bless All. Sue (Bliler) Hale, Decatur, Illinois
I remember doing your wedding back in 1972 in the Hartwig home. I just want you to know I am thinking of you today.

Dick and I spent many hours together in a squad car. He was more of a brother than a partner and one great partner. When we were on the job I never doubted that Dick had my back. I will sorely miss him and am saddened by his passing.
God bless,
Bob Allison
