Sammy E. “Butch” Bledsaw, 69, of Warrensburg, entered Heaven’s gates July 22, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Sammy was born November 25, 1948 in Decatur, IL, the son of Samuel Martin and Janette (Miller) Bledsaw. He married Amy Hogan on October 17, 1998 in Decatur, IL.
Sammy was a graduate of Eisenhower High School. He worked for A.E. Staley for many years and then for Midstate Machinery and Crescent Bearing. He most recently worked as a bus aide for the Warrensburg Latham School on a special needs bus where he loved to see and assist his two special girls, Emma and Reagan, who always brought a smile to his face.
He loved the Lord and loved serving God’s people through New Vision Urban Ministries where he was a greeter and member of “Man Up” with his christian brothers. He loved sharing God’s word.
Sam got the greatest joy out of watching his son, Logan, play sports at WLHS. He was Logan’s number one fan and didn’t hardly miss a game until his leukemia diagnosis in February. His other great joy was his loyal dog, Jack.
Surviving are his wife, Amy; son, Logan Bledsaw of Warrensburg; daughter, Kimberly Werren (Travis) of Decatur; brother Johnny Bledsaw (Connie) of Warrensburg, sister Paula Martin of Sylvania, GA; grandchild, Gabrielle Werren of Decatur; mother in law, Cam Curry of Decatur; brother’s in law, Troy Hogan of Decatur and Rodney Knott of Hagerstown, MD and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Knott; brother in law, Bob Martin; and father in law, John Hogan.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday July 26, 2018 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home.
Memorials: The family for the college education fund for Logan Bledsaw at Staley Credit Union.
