Alfred L. Burkett's Obituary
Alfred Lovine Burkett, 88, of Decatur passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Al was born on July 8, 1927 in Decatur the son of Alfred D. and Inez (Phillips) Burkett. He was a retired cement mason local 103. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy Sea Bee’s during WWII. He married Mary Wilson in 1947 he later married Mary L. Long in 1973.
Surviving are his son, Andy Burkett (Anne) of Edwardsville, IL; daughters, Jo Ellen Cairns (Phil Tucker) of Decatur; Judith Burkett of Decatur; step-son, Lonnie Sayles of Decatur; step-daughter, Linda Paine (Rodney) of Decatur; 6 grand children, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Honoring Al’s wishes cremation will take place in Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. There will be no public services. Private burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
