Anna Marie Tucker (Tabor)
Decatur ' Anna Marie Tucker (Tabor), 85, of Decatur, IL, died on April 22, 2010 at 11:35 p.m. at McKinley Court Nursing Home in Decatur, IL.
Anna was born on July 26, 1924, to Grover D. Tabor and Elizabeth Tabor (Quinn). While in high school, she worked at Grider's Cafeteria and Stewart's Dry Goods. She married Gehl Tucker on February 1, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. While her husband served in the military in World War 2, Anna worked in the office at Curtis Wright Aircraft Corporation.
Anna volunteered her time at the YMCA and helped teach disabled children how to swim. She was in charge of the Candy Stripes volunteer program at St. Mary's Hospital for two years and was a member of the Auxiliary for 16 years. Anna retired from Carson Pierre Scott.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Gehl Tucker; her daughter, Linda Tucker Horve; her son, Robert Tucker; sisters, Nancy Tabor, Juanita Kitson and Linda Mechtoldt; brothers, Dan Tabor and Grover Tabor; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Elizabeth Horve. She is survived by son, Gehl (Joan) of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Kim (Bill) Sloan of Oreana, IL; her companion, Roland 'Red' Dixon; brother, Robert Tabor of Wheaton, IL; sisters, Minola Cole of Decatur, IL and Delores Rondeau of Louisana; grandchildren, Steve (Tina) Horve, Jeff (Michelle) Horve, Brandon (Lora) Sloan, Kristina (Mike) Sommers, Sky Commanda, Raven Cammanda, Robin Commanda and Charles Commanda; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Gunnar, Brittany, Samantha, Will, Lucas, Jack, Cade, Karsyn, Ella, Avery, and Dallyn
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 3-4 p.m. at Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, followed immediately by a memorial service (beginning at 4 p.m.). There will be a private family burial on Monday at Fairlawn cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.
