We were so sorry to learn of Doug's passing, We only knew him through his BBQ stand at the gas station but my husband and grandson visited with him many times. It is comforting to know that he knew the Lord and attended church regularly. Our sincerest synpathy to the family.

I first met Doug, in the 80's through fishing, I remember him as a very nice young man, who enjoyed fishing as much as did.I would see him from time to time over the years, and he would always have a smile for everyone he met.My deepest condolences to his family, and God Bless.

To Christy and family: we extend to you our deepest sympathy. We loved Doug like he was one of our children. Ooh, those fishing trips to Kentucky Lake, and the BBQ he did for Compassionate Ministry, the help with the Don Cuttill Memorial Golf Tournament for Cmpassionate Ministry, for times spent in the nose bleed section at Illinois Basketball Games, his contribution in time to the ministry of First Nazarene, his warm and contagious smile as he would greet you at church or on the street, we will miss Doug. We are soo sorry to hear of Doug's passing and hope God is with everyone at this time. We were a couple of years younger than Doug when we were underclassmen and he was the cool, friendly senior, who always said "Hi and made you feel Welcome". And what an athlete he was as well. To say that Jodi and I were shocked about Doug's passing is an understatement. Doug and his wife were friends of ours when we attended the same church and small group for a while. We even had the pleasure of going on a cruise a few years ago with several couples, which included Doug and Christy. It will always be one of our most cherished memories. In fact, I'll never forget Doug standing behind the wheel on our chartered sailboat with a smile as big as the sea itself, navigating us towards a very memorable day. Our deepest condolences to Christy and Doug's family. We pray that the peace above all understanding will be with you during this time.
I had the pleasure of meeting Doug last summer at Long Creek Vineyards during the Blues and BBQ fest. What struck me immediately was his integrity and his love for his family. He was a great man who made an impact on me in just the short time I knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they struggle to get through this hard time. Much love to all of you.
