Brian E. Schroat's Obituary
Decatur-Brian E. Schroat, 46, of Decatur, passed away at 5:42 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Brian was born February 16, 1970 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Everett Schroat and Gail Foster. He attended Warrensburg-Latham until his junior year. Brian Graduated from MacArthur High School and attended Western Illinois University.
He was the manager at Good’s Furniture Store in Forsyth for twenty-five years. Brian was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and an avid fan of the Washington Nationals. His kids were his world. He loved spending time with them and attending all of their school activities. Brian married Molly Smith August 21, 1993 in Decatur.
Brian leaves behind his wife Molly, children Lydia and Foster Schroat, mother Gail (Jim) Foster, father Everett (Linda) Schroat, sisters Lisa (Robert) Hanks and Amy (Jim) Lichtenberger, mother-in-law and father-in-law Cindy and Mike Smith, sister-in-law Libby (Frank) Huston, and brother-in-law Michael (Rachel) Smith.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents Gene and Betty Cothern and Everett and Eleanor Schroat.
Brian was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
Services to celebrate Brian’s life will be 10 AM Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Court Decatur, with Pastor Wray Offermann officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in Brian’s honor may be directed to his children’s education in care of Molly Schroat.
