Charles E. Brightman's Obituary
Decatur-Charles E. Brightman, 68, of Danville, formerly of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 peacefully in his home.
He was born February 19, 1946, in Lovington, IL, to Harold and Edna Brightman, later to be raised by George E. (Pappy) and Edna Huckstep. He proudly served his country in the USMC, serving two tours in Vietnam. He worked hard as an owner operator truck driver. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with his family, grandchildren and grand-dogger Dora. He also had a passionate love for his four legged fur babies. He was an artist, a musician, and a free-spirited soul. He never knew a stranger and remained very active in things that were dear to his heart.
He leaves behind his son, Sean (Tara) Brightman of Blue Mound, IL; daughters, Carrie (Steve) Kwilinski of Montevideo, MN, Elizabeth (Tomas) Brightman of Sartell, MN; brothers, George Huckstep of Decatur, IL, Bill Huckstep of Decatur, IL, Richard Huckstep of Sullivan, IL; sister, Linda Huckstep of Decatur, IL, grandchildren Jacob (Sarah} Nicholas, Mitchell, Mason, Riley, Ross, Nolan, Alissa, and grand-dogger Dora, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, brothers, Harold Brightman, Jim Brightman, Larry Huckstep, Keith Huckstep, and Gene Huckstep, sister Margaret (Brightman) Boone, and Brenda Huckstep.
Services to celebrate Charlie’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. with Masonic rites immediately following on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be directed to Vietnam Veterans Memorial and/or Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
