Charles "Chuck" Seitz's Obituary
Decatur- Charles 'Chuck' Seitz, 65, born in Joliet, Illinois March 31, 1945 journeyed safely home August 30, 2010 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, surrounded by his loving family. He passed away from respiratory failure due to complications of cancer treatment.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Chuck's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Jeff Grant as Celebrant. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Garver Brick Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House, 4381 W. Pine Blvd. St. Louis, MO, 63108-2205 or St. Louis Children's Hospital, #1 Children's Place, St. Louis, MO, 63110-1032. The son of Charles Jr. and Norma Jean (Young) Seitz, Chuck was a 1963 graduate of McArthur High School, Richland Community College, and attended Eastern Illinois and Millikin Universities. He joined the USMC from October 1965 through September of 1967 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant after bravely serving his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the military he continued employment at Caterpillar Inc. where he gave over forty years of service. Chuck loved to spend time with family, cookouts, and around the fire 'Hootananies'. Daddy enjoyed fishing, traveling, family vacations, cruises, and his passion golf, which he had two holes in one. He was a devote catholic and a member of Sts. James and Patrick Parish.
Chuck leaves behind his wife Teresa (Mizeur) Seitz of over forty-two years this past May 18th, daughter, Kathy Snyder and husband Mark, son Matthew and wife Amberlee, twin brother, Ron and wife Ilene, sister, Sandra Medina and husband Juan, brother, Tom and wife Deborah all of Decatur, grandchildren, Marley, Kaleb, Ryan, Ella, Noah, and Griffin, several nieces and nephews, Aunt Wanda Gerdes and husband Jim and Uncle David Young and their families, aunts, Loretta Blick and Laverna Bauman, several cousins, and family, Wilma and Charlie Bell, Mary and Will Deck, and Kate and Ron Gipson and their families.
Chuck was greeted in Heaven by his parents, step-mother, Betty, step-brother, Steve Krotz, nephew, Timothy Bell and great nephew, Michael McMillion.
Chuck proudly chose to be an organ donor, which he encourages everyone to do, this saved our Kaleb.
