Dave Staff's Obituary
David “Dave” Kenton Staff, 63, of Decatur, IL, got to meet Jesus on Friday, November 15, 2024, after a brief bout with an aggressive cancer.
He was born on February 21, 1961, in Danville, IL, to Lawrence “Larry” Marche Staff and Katherine “Kathy” Hulda Harting Staff. He worked at Ameren Illinois as a draftsman prior to his retirement, and attended worship at Northwest Christian Church.
Dave loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and visiting old friends. Hiking, camping, watching baseball, and spending time with family were also among his most beloved activities, and at one time he had also enjoyed scuba diving.
He was involved with the North American Nature Photography Association, The Decatur Camera Club, and he volunteered at the Macon County Conservation Center. He had also secured a special Ham Operator’s License, which came in handy at the Ham Radio Club.
In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Marie Staff.
He leaves behind aunts and uncles, Roger (Barbara) Harting of Decatur and Maxine (Rev. Richard) Kiessling of Beaverton, OR; great aunts and a great uncle; many first, second, and third cousins from both sides of his family; as well as many cherished friends.
The family of Dave Staff will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:30 am, with burial to follow immediately afterward in Graceland Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Steve Higgs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Dave’s memory to Northwest Christian Church, DOVE Incorporated Decatur, or to a charity of your choice.
