David Eugene Scott's Obituary
David Eugene Scott, 62, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 8:25 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was born February 1, 1957 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the son of Woodrow “Woody” and Mary Ellen “Mickey” Freeth Scott. He married Tina Brohard Braden on February 14, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
David was a member of the American Softball Association, and was inducted into both the Illinois and National Hall of Fame. He was a pitcher in the men’s major fast pitch league. He was a member of the ADM softball team, which later became the Decatur Pride. David was a superfan of Murray State softball, as well as the Maroa Forsyth Trojans. He loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. David was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Adam (Morgan) Scott of Hainesville, Illinois; a daughter, Selina (Nick) Finck of Maroa; three grandchildren, Brenna and Braylee Finck; and Rowan Scott; a brother, Craig “PJ” Scott of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and a brother-in-law, Jack Mahoney of Blackwood, New Jersey.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Pam Mahoney.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation will be held immediately after the service until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
