Delmas Fielding Zirkle's Obituary
Delmas Fielding Zirkle, 81, of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Orting, Washington, passed away December 19, 2022 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, Illinois.
Delmas was born in Puyallup, Washington, on May 27, 1941, the son of Frank and Susan (Fielding) Zirkle. He was Bus Mechanic and Supervisor for the Orting School District for 35 years, where he was fondly known as “The Man in the Black Hat.” He was a full-time RVer for the last 25 years and also enjoyed working on cars. He married Catherine Jesse on August 1, 1969 at Orting United Methodist Church in Orting, Washington.
Delmas is survived by his children: Daryk (Elizabeth) Zirkle of Arlington, Virginia and Deroan (Mark) Peters of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren: Benjamin (fiancée Samantha) Peters, Alex Peters, Claire Peters, Drake Zirkle, Helena Zirkle, Grace Zirkle, and Margaret Zirkle; great-granddaughter Rachel Peters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Frank Zirkle Jr. and Sanford Zirkle; and sister Eileen Zirkle.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Delmas. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Washington. Memorials may be directed to the Washington Soldiers Home Orting, 1301 Orting Kapowsin Highway, Orting, WA 98360.
