Delvin O. Groves' Obituary
Delvin O. Groves, 81, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Delvin was born December 19, 1935 in Decatur the son of Marion J. and Martha A. (Croy) Groves. He graduated from Warrensburg High School. He worked for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel from 1953-1982 , he owned Groves Drafting for 3 and half years, and retired from BWC Engineering. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, scouting, and archery. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He married Nancy Haynes on July 2, 1955 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; children: Debora Krall (Carl), Delvin Brett Groves (Connie), Lori Daniels (Jerry), and Daniel Groves (Heather); brother, Dale Groves (Gloria); 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Edgar, Hubert, Marion Jr., and Larry, sisters, Alma Cruthis and Mildred Wakeman.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Fair Havens and DMH, and Dr. Newlin for all their care.
Graveside service to celebrate Delvin’s life will be 10 AM Friday, January 6, 2017 in Boiling Springs Cemetery with Pastor Phil Hanson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Boy Scouts Lincoln Trail Council or Promise Land Church in Warrensburg.
