Douglas Leroy "Doug" Gordy's Obituary
Decatur – Douglas L. “Doug” Gordy, 62, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Douglas was born April 15, 1951 in Decatur the son of William and Marguerite (Smock) Gordy. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Doug worked as a truck driver for Nussbaum Trucking before retiring in 2001. He was a member of Teamsters Local #279 and Warrensburg Sportsman Club. Doug loved to hunt, fish, camp, and gamble. Doug married Lois E. Stewart on January 2, 1972.
Surviving is his wife, Lois of Decatur; sons: Chad (wife, Noelani) Gordy of Decatur and Adam (wife, Jennifer) Gordy of Springfield; grandchildren: Megan Gordy, Sean Gordy, and Mason Gordy. He is also survived by one brother, Homer Lee (companion, Cindy Blanchard) Gordy; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas and sister Brenda.
Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Joe Molloy celebrant; visitation will begin at 9 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
