Elizabeth A. "Betty" Butts' Obituary
Decatur-Elizabeth A. “Betty” Butts, 81, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 in her home.
She was born December 2, 1932 in Bloomington, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Jett) Barling. She was previously employed as a receptionist with Beich Candy Factory in Bloomington. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and bowling. She married Alfred Butts April 24, 1949. He preceded her in death October 3, 2008.
She leaves behind her children William Butts and wife Martha of Decatur, Debra Colvin and husband David of Brentwood, Tennessee, Karen Earp of Decatur, and David Butts of Escondido, California, brother Harold Barling of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sisters Marilyn Devary of Bloomington, Barbara Williamson of Bloomington, Ruth Berry and husband Jack of Richland, Michigan, and Sue Hamilton of Prescott, Arizona, grandchildren Bill and Alfred Butts, Bruce Thompson, Benjamin Massey, Chris Earp, April Goodrich, and Meredith Strange, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, brother George Barling, and granddaughter Julia Massey.
The family would like to give a special thanks Tara and Angie with DMH Hospice and Betty’s brother Harold and sister Ruth for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee, or Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
