Evelyn F. Scheel's Obituary
Evelyn Frances (Sphar) Asay Scheel, 98, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in her home.
Evelyn was born November 27, 1914 in Shelby County, the daughter of Grover and Hazel (Gladman) Sphar. She worked as a postal worker in Roselle, IL, and was a member of NARFE Chapter 399 and Mound Chapel Church of God. She was also a foster grandparent at Head Start for almost 10 years. She married Donald Asay in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1963. She later married Arthur Scheel in 1977. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Evelyn leaves behind her sons, Alan Asay of Decatur, IL; Donald Asay and wife Dianne of Mt. Zion, IL; Timothy Asay of Garrettsville, OH; daughter, Alice and husband Ron Kirk of Houston, TX; grandchildren, William, Heather, and Donnie; and one great-grandchild, Sydney.
A graveside service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, IL. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur.
