Forrest L. Colley's Obituary
Decatur-Forrest L. Colley, 88, of Decatur, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Fair Havens Christian Home with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Forrest's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of the donor’s choice. Forrest was born November 18, 1922 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Alva and Ava Colley. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Forrest worked for Firestone in Akron, OH and Decatur IL, and spent 10 years working at the Firestone Rubber Plantations in Liberia and Ghana, Africa. Forrest was an avid golfer and woodworker and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, American Legion post 105, Decatur Moose Lodge 684, Decatur Elks 402, and Firestone retirees. He married Vi Lay November 15, 1942. She preceded him in death January 14, 1991. He later married Leona McQuiggan February 26, 1995. She preceded him in death March 2, 1998.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, grandchildren; Edward Good and wife Nancy of Decatur, Catherine Good of Decatur, Phillip Good of Decatur, stepsons; Tom McQuiggan and wife Gloria of Cuba, Mo., Ralph McQuiggan and wife Susan of Manchester, MO., Chuck McQuiggan and wife Bev of Maryville, IL., sister-in-law; Loribeth Middleton, Ann McClellan and husband Bill, brother-in-law Bernard Loell and wife Judy, 14 step grandchildren and 20 great step grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, wives, daughter; Judy Good, sister; Lois Colley, brother; Gerald Colley, stepson; James McQuiggan, sister-in-laws; Clara Brown, Rose Ebner, Jane King and Adeline, brother-in law’ Harold Loell.
He will be especially missed by his longtime loving companion Betty Moore and special friends Marge Kaufman, Rhonda Giles, and Sheila Rodmaker. Special thank you to the American Legion 105, and to the staff at Fair Haven’s Christian Home for their care and concern for his safety they always showed
