Freda Mason's Obituary
Decatur – Freda A. “G.G.” Mason, 94, of Decatur died on Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Freda was a faithful Christian mother for the entire Mason clan. She lived her life to the fullest until the very end still loving and earning the respect of everyone.
Service to celebrate Freda’s life will be 10 AM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in Moundford Free Methodist Church, 1803 E. Mound Road, Decatur with Pastor Robert Smith officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony. Memorials are suggested to Moundford Free Methodist Church.
Freda was born on March 31, 1920 in Champaign County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Sally) Cunningham Brown. She married John W. Mason on July 18, 1938 in Kearney, NE they were blessed with 69 years together. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2007.
The family was blessed by Freda’s Christian leadership, her energy, her quick wit and sacrificial love that she gave to each one. She touched many lives and her memory and legacy will continue to live.
Freda is survived by her three sons, Jim Mason and wife Sharon; Wes Mason and wife Carol; Terry Mason and wife Janyce; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
The family wishes to thank Hickory Point Christian Village, her private caregivers, and Dr. Richard Fritz for their tender care in her last days.
