Garnet G. Gaitros' Obituary
Garnet Geraldine (Le Grand) Gaitros, 78, of Decatur, previously of Cerro Gordo passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Garnet was born February 3, 1934 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of Edward and Etta (Benson) Le Grand. She farmed with her husband and retired from The Barnyard Restaurant in Cerro Gordo. She also enjoyed knitting, watching All My Children, baking bread, embroidering and eating at McDonald's. She married her husband Peter Amasa Gaitros on August 11, 1951. He preceded her in death.
Garnet leaves behind her sons, David (Cynthia) Gaitros of Tallahassee, FL; Larry (Marcia) Gaitros of Oakley, IL; daughters, Peggy (Craig) Chaney of Mattoon, IL; Carolyn Gaitros of St. Louis, MO; Donna (Lee) Lunardi of Decatur, IL; beloved niece Gayle Gaitros; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Iris (Edward) Gaitros of Pekin, IL; Wanda (David) Chalk of Monroe, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and an infant sister.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Roberto Pabalate, Dr. Kenneth Tuan and Dr. Perry Guaglanone, Dr. Harold Yoon, the staff at the Cancer Care Center of Decatur, the nurses and staff at DHM, and Hickory Point Village.
A graveside service to celebrate Garnet's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Cerro Gordo TWP Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House at RMHCCI, 610 N 7th St. Springfield, Il 62702.
