George M. Bruder's Obituary
George M. Bruder, 91, of Decatur, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Evergreen Senior Living Center.
George was born September 19, 1927, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of George M Bruder and Anna Marie (Blank) Bruder. He married Betty Ann Scott on September 22, 1945 in Decatur. They shared over seventy-two years together. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
During WWII, George worked at the Caterpillar Military Engine plant in Decatur. He worked the night shift and went to Decatur High School during the day. In the early 1950’s, he began working at the Caterpillar Tractor Company manufacturing facility in Decatur, retiring from there as an Inspection Manager in 1983.
Surviving are his son, John D. (Carol) Bruder and Don E. (Donna) Bruder; grandchildren, Michael Eric (Heather) Bruder, Sarah Dawn (Jason) Ward, Andrew Donald (Caroline) Bruder and Robby David (Kelly) Bruder; great-grandchildren McKenzie and Aiden Bruder, Jacob, Jennah and Josie Ward, William and Lilah Bruder and Liam Bruder; and special niece, Tammy (Gosnell) Boeker.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, grandson, John Scott Bruder and six sisters.
His family gives special thanks to the people at Evergreen Senior Living Center in Decatur, Harbor Lights Hospice in Forsyth, and to Dr. David Baumberger for the great care and support provided to George.
Private family services will be held at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery.
