Irma (Collins) Wright's Obituary
Irma (Collins) Wright, 87, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Irma was born on August 21, 1925 the daughter of Virgil and Edna (Allen) Collins. She graduated from Strasburg High School, and was a former employee of Macon Arms and Houdaille Hershey. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of Alpha Chi Beta Sorority, and served as a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for 43 years. She married H. Earl Wright of Decatur in 1953, and to this union seven children were born.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish her memory ' daughter, Sheri O'Field (Homer) of Decatur, sons Brad Wright of Decatur, Dr. Scott Wright (Laura) of Independence, VA, Grant Wright (Mary) of Decatur, Dr. Todd Wright (Nancee) of Fishers, IN, and Glenn Wright (Paula) of Indianapolis, IN., sixteen loving grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Betty Ann Skielnik (Antonio) of Mt. Pulaski, IL, brother Herbert Collins (Josephine) of Strasburg, IL, many nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynnie Ann, parents, sisters Thelma Campbell, Marie Sommerville, Genevieve Buesking, and Daisy Gulick.
Irma will be forever remembered for her loving, and generous spirit, and her great love for all of her family. May her legacy of grace, caring, and compassion forever be a part of each one of us. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. James Wade and staff, and DMH Hospice for their loving care and concern during her illness.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 11a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 1800 E. Lakeshore Drive, Decatur, IL 62521
