Jan Henebry's Obituary
Janet “Jan” Katherine Henebry, 68 of Mt. Zion, made her transition peacefully at 1:52 a.m. in the company of her family on May 7, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Jan is survived by her two sons Michael (Tammy) Henebry of Jonesborough, Tennessee and John (Kathryn) Henebry of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania as well as her sister Ann Owens of Beecher, Illinois. She has two grandchildren Jordan & Lucy Henebry with a third due in October of this year. She was preceded by her parents and her brother, Marshall Owens.
Jan was born on September 13th, 1949, to Fred and Hazel Owens. She was a Lake View Spartan, played clarinet in the marching band, and graduated Lake View High School in 1967. She attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and Chicago where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1971. She had two children, John Henebry in 1973 and Michael Henebry in 1979. Jan is remembered as a devoted mother, dedicated nurse, and charismatic spirit.
Jan loved music and dancing. She loved spending time with family and friends. She had an inclusive spirit seeking new friends and experiences.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers, and staff of St John’s hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, and Mason Point Nursing home for their care and compassion for Jan and her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at St. Patrick Church in Decatur. Liturgical prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, with visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Private family burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace House 1010 N Brush College Rd, Decatur, IL 62521.
