I remember when "Dylan & Drew's Grandma" and I shared stories of books we read as if the stories were part of our actual lives. It was a warm summer day and she was wearing a sun hat while doing some front yard gardening to pass the time before the boys came home for lunch. Then she shared with me her desire to read the Hunger Games series and how she could not wait until a copy became available at the library. She placed the book on hold and was anxiously waiting for the book to become available. I thought I met a kindred spirit that sunny day! When I told her EJ and I owned a paperback copy that she could borrow; you would have thought I had offered to give her my winning lottery ticket. I remember her face so vividly on this day of all days. Maybe because we were talking about a matter of our hearts; books. Maybe because she looked so cute in her floppy sun hat. I don't know why. Then it couldn't have been more than a couple of weeks and an unexpected package arrived. It was the book with the sweetest little thank you note. It meant so much. It was so thoughtful for something so little. I thought to myself, it was just a book loan. No big deal but she made me feel like it was more than that. She always made EJ and I feel so loved and welcomed. They say you cannot always remember the words someone tells you but you can always remember how they made you feel. "Constant Joy" definitely describes the feeling and love too.
