I was friends with Janet Carter Cravens most of my life,- Kenny Carter's daughter. ... Kenny Carter was one of the nicest men I ever met. Haha,- And generous! Whenever Janet and I were going uptown or anywhere growing up, and Janet would go ask her dad (Kenny) for spending money he would say, "How much do you want?" It was alittle harder for me to get spending money out of my parents. ... I also have memories of Kenny sleeping in his chair in front of the TV, like most men, when he wasn't at work. ... Kenny worked for the Sunshine Dairy delivering milk. And after I grew up, was married, and had kids of my own it was a pleasant surprise to find out that Kenny Carter was my new milkman and would be delivering my milk. And I always looked forward to seeing him and having short conversations with him when he delivered my milk. ... But, sad to say I have lost contact with his daughter Janet in recent years. But I do run into Janet's brother Kenny Jr. every now and then. And Kenny Jr. kind of fills me in on how the family is doing.

It seems, as a child and friends with Betty, I spent about as much time at the Carter household as mine. It was a welcoming place to be and Mr. Carter always had a smile to share with anyone who crossed his threshold. Kenny Carter was my best friends dad the whole time I was growing up, (his daughter Janet). He was a really nice easy going dad. I never really heard him get mad. If we were going uptown Janet would ask him for money to spend & he would say, " How much do you want? " ( Not so easy for me at my house ). I also always remember whenever we would go up or down the stairs to play at their house, he would always be sitting in his recliner either watching T.V. or sleeping- when he wasn't at work. In later years after I was married & had kids he stopped at my house quite often- he was my milkman and we had a little to talk about every time he came. I'm sorry I can't tell everyone in person but my heart goes out to the whole family. Diane ( Austin ) Denzer
