Kenneth A. Carter's Obituary
Decatur-Kenneth A. Carter Sr., 91, of Springfield formerly of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in his home with his family by his side.
He was born April 28, 1922 in Marion, Illinois, the son of Fred W. and Audrey E. (Frazier) Carter. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was previously employed as a route salesman with Sunshine Dairy retiring with over sixteen years of service. He enjoyed bird watching, model airplanes, and the news and weather. He married Norma E. Bledsoe October 6, 1957 in Decatur.
He leaves behind his wife Norma of Springfield, sons William Carter and Kenneth Carter, Jr. both of Decatur, daughters Nancy (Pete) Richard-Spray of Cascade, Iowa, Betty (Harold) Hayes of Grove City, Ohio, Janet (Harold) Cravens of Decatur, and Lisa (Joe) Anderson of Springfield, brother Walter (Barbara) Carter of Decatur, grandchildren Jenny (Rory) Becker, Aaron Richard, Harold Hayes IV, Danny (Kellie) Hayes, Amy (Steve) Barilone, Jacob Anderson, and Megan Anderson, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, three brothers, and seven sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Cramer and Memorial Hospice for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans.
