Larry Rodney Logemann's Obituary
Decatur-Larry Rodney Logemann, 71, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 in his home from complications of Diabetes.
Larry was born and raised on a farm in Bennington, NE, on October 7, 1943 the son of Lester and Dorothy (Sorensen) Logemann. He graduated with honors in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in January of 1966. Larry married his college sweetheart Carol Ann Farkas of Chicago, IL, on August 6, 1966 in Bennington, NE. They were married forty-eight wonderful years. He went to work for Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, IL. In 1967 he transferred to the Decatur Plant. He was a Senior Design Engineer in the Mining Division of Off Highway Trucks. He retired in 1999 with thirty-four years of service.
Larry loved to hunt, fish, fly his plane, travel, and help with the family farming in Nebraska. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping the church man an information booth during the Farm Progress Show.
Larry is survived by his wife Carol, brother Darrell and wife CoeLeta of Nebraska, nieces Kris Reiswig and husband Darwin of Nebraska, and Juli Logemann of California, sister-in-law Darlene Sufranski of Illinois, nieces Jasmine and Nicole and Rachel Van Ettan all of Illinois, nephew Ronald Van Ettan of Illinois, and the family of Tim Sass of Nebraska.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, niece Jackie Stork and her sons Justin and Jason.
Memorial services to celebrate Larry’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Foundation or Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Decatur.
