Leon L. Finney's Obituary
Decatur- Leon L. “Red” Finney, 88, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at McKinley Court.
Per Leon’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Leon will be held at a later date.
Leon was born September 5, 1922 in Yale, Illinois the son of Loy and Lydia (Harrison) Finney. Leon was an Iron Worker with Local 46 for 50 years and former owner of General Fence before he retired. He was a 60 year member of the Argenta Masonic Lodge # 871 and a 60 year member of the Decatur Shrine Club, where he was a member of the Tin Lizzies and one of the founding members of the Shriners parading Dune Buggies. He married Mary Frances Thomas on February 16, 1943 in Charleston, Illinois. She preceded him in death December of 2000.
Leon leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter; Linda Randles and husband Terry of Oreana, grandsons; Jeffery Hall and wife Misty of Phoenix, AZ., and Justin Hall and wife Kerry of Danville, 4 great-grandchildren; Dunya and Gavin of Phoenix and Logan and Alexandria of Danville, 2 step-granddaughters; Kerri Randles of Los Angeles, and Tobi Randles of Decatur, 4 step-grandchildren, Chloe, Liam, Piper and Mimi of Decatur, 1 Sister; Louis Kurr of Mattoon, and a sister-in-law; Patricia Beavers of Tempe, AZ.
Leon was greeted into Heaven by his wife and parents.
The family would like to thank the administration and staff at McKinley
Court for the thoughtful care he received. Also special friends, Brian and
Becky Burcham for all they have done.
