Leslie E. Carr's Obituary
Leslie Eugene Carr, 86, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Fair Havens Christian Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Leslie was born August 12, 1932 in Decatur, to Leslie Erwin and Helen Rae (Myers) Carr. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He married Shirley Joan Downey on August 4, 1951 in Decatur. She passed away April 9, 2002. Leslie was an industrial engineer for A.E. Staley for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #105, very involved with Junior Achievement and the Big Dummy Golf Club.
He is survived by his four children, Rod (Darinda) Carr of Decatur, Leslee (Bill) Thomas of Robinson, IL, Kristy Carr and Kelly (Shawn) March all of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Tara, Kent, Lindsay, Julie, Haden and Kendall; and five great grandchildren, Addison, Eleanor, Fletcher, Huxton and Rowan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and his brother, Bob Carr.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Leslie Carr will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Legion Post #105 Scholarship Fund.
