Lloyd Lee Clark's Obituary
Lloyd Lee Clark, 73, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by his family.
Lloyd was born July 11, 1941, in Gila, IL the oldest son of Berl and Ruby (Coverstone) Clark. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. He was involved in dirt track and asphalt racing for many years helping his son, family members and friends. He enjoyed waking up early and “helping” open McDonalds so that he could share his mornings with many beloved friends. He will miss you all. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, fighting Illini and the Chicago Bears. His greatest joy of all was watching his grandson enjoy life and all his accomplishments.
He is survived by his son, Andrew (Stacey O’Neill) Clark of Decatur and his daughter, Sheryl (Tim) Miller of Forsyth; his grandson, Keenan Zilz; step-grandchildren, Lukas Miller, Alex Mahon and MacKenzie O’Neill-Mahon; four brothers, John (Karen) Clark, Harold Punk (Patty) Clark, Carl (Diane) Clark and Dean Clark; special cousin/friend, Grace Robinson-Whipple and brother-in-law, Clyde Schwengel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Aaron Charles Clark; and his sister, Lois Schwengel.
A very special thanks to the amazing and compassionate nurses in the St. John’s Hospital cardiac care unit, cardiac recovery unit and intensive care unit. Also to Amy Durako, NP with Dr. Jeff Christy who took Lloyd under her wing as if he was her own family member.
Graveside services celebrating the life of Lloyd Clark will be 12 noon, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the graveside service at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. John’s School of Nursing.
