Decatur-Margaret N. Hovey, 87, of North Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 1:38 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Services to celebrate Margaret’s life will be 2:00 pm. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Smith officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with Flight Home Ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, FL or to the charity of your choice. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Margaret was born July 19, 1922 in Harristown, Illinois the daughter of C. Ross and Clara (Eaden) Brady. She graduated from Decatur High School. Margaret enjoyed traveling, antiques, live theater productions, cooking, and baking Christmas cookies. She married John A. Hovey. John preceded her in death on May 23, 1983.
She leaves behind her sons; John K. (Karen) Hovey of Little Rock, AR and Kevin M. Hovey of Little Rock, AR, daughters; Susan C. Hovey of St. Louis, MO and Mary (Daniel) Wanat of Germantown, TN, brother; Glen Brady of Tuscon, AZ, sisters; Betty Marcantil of Nederland, TX, Charlotte Reed of Kingman, AZ, and Lorene Brady of Hammond, IN. Margaret was a loving grandmother to Rebecca Wanat, Matthew Wanat, Aimee Hovey, John C. (Merisha) Hovey, John L. (Julie) Hovey, Jonathon W. Hovey, and Samuel C. Hovey, four great-grandchildren, aunt to many nieces and nephews, and loving dear friend to many.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, son; Dennis A. Hovey, sisters; Dorothy Moutray, Opal Carter, Erma Stivers, and Barbara Brady, and brothers; Carl Brady, Ronald Brady, and Paul Brady.
