Mark Rau's Obituary
Warrensburg-Mark Rau, 59, of Warrensburg formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur after battling liver cancer.
Mark was born April 11, 1955 in Decatur, the son of William and Pauline (Stiles) Rau. He graduated from Warrensburg-Latham High School.
Mark will be remembered for his creativity and love of the arts. He performed in musicals and plays. He enjoyed being a member of the C.O.R.A.L. Group of Springfield. He was very proud of the work they did on their award winning state fair floats. Over the past ten years they have won six Governor’s Sweepstakes Awards and four Grand Marshal’s Awards.
Mark leaves behind his mother Pauline Rau of Warrensburg, brother David (Jan) Rau of Jackson, Missouri, sister Christina Robinson of Warrensburg, two nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces, five great-nephews, and two great-great-nieces.
Mark was preceded in death by his father William E. Rau and brother-in-law Larry Robinson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Mary’s sixth floor nursing staff for their loving care.
Uncle Mark will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his fashion and decorating advice.
Memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Warrensburg United Methodist Church, 185 E. Main St. Warrensburg. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Mark’s family at the Buena Vista Bank, P.O. Box 500 Warrensburg, IL, 62573.
