How do we go on without Aunt Mary Jane?That's something my cousins and I have to figure out along with her children and grandchildren. She impacted our lives with unity of keeping our family informed and bringing us together. I find myself surrounded by butterflies that I rarely noticed before when I go out and it's so comforting. It's a constant reminder of the love she had for family and what family is to all of us…a place to belong.You will always be with us Aunt Mary Jane and somehow we will have those family reunions.

Sorry we missed Mary Jane's visitation and services, Kerry nor I subscribe to the Herald & Review anymore and we just found out about her passing today! We have so many fond memories of her and all the extended families it wouldn't be possible to describe even a small percentage of them in the limited space we are allowed on this site. I suppose the best way to describe our sadness/joy is to say thank you all for being a part of our lives, we will always cherish the friendship and kindness we received from all of you! Mary Jane was one of my mother's dearest, sweetest friends. My mom was Barb Mowry & she passed away in 1994 of lung cancer. I moved to Springfield shortly after my mother's death, but when I would come to my mother's grave on special occasions or holidays, I would always find an arrangement or memorial that Mary Jane had left there. That went on for years. Just the other day, I thought about Mary Jane and wondered where she was at. I was very saddened to see that I had let time go by and it is too late. My deepest sympathies!!

Dear Bill, Larry, Carol and families,I have known Mary Jane since High School. Although I never lived in Decatur we always kept in touch so I was able to follow all of your lives over the years and felt like I knew all of you. She was a very special friend and I will miss her very much. I remember visiting her and Bill in their apartment after they were first married – at that time I was dating who was to become my husband (Jim) and we had lots of fun with them. Dear Bill and family of Mary Jane. How blessed you were ….we were…to have her in our world. she always had something good to say, a ready smile and laugh, and a tale to share. Truly we loved her and are grateful to our Loving Lord for her presence. I especially enjoyed the stories she told about previous Pastors, Also, she helped design and make the card we send to members at the first anniversary of their loss of a loved one. In her personal life, she set a high water mark for us to reach. She certainly has passed on to her family and us too a profound witness of how the Christian faith can shape life and make it more beautiful. I wish I could thank her for how she helped me during my years at First. I remember especially how kind she was to my precious Judy. May our gracious God who gave Mary Jane to you and to folks like myself and His Church, comfort you with His love as He has called one of His daughter's to their eternal life..
