Napoleon Johnson's Obituary
Napoleon “Nay” Johnson, 90, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away June 26, 2025, at the Loft Rehab of Decatur.
Nay was born in Frisco, Missouri, on April 4, 1935, the son of Johnnie and Ora Lee Johnson. He worked for many years at Wagner Castings in Decatur. He was a hard worker who spent his free time caring for his family. He was a huge Cub fan. He loved to sing, especially at church. He was a jokester and loved watching westerns. He could come home after watching a movie and act it all out for his home “audience.”
Nay is survived by his siblings Virgie Clemmons, Flossie Richardson, Dorthy Joyner, Betty Jean Johnson, and Rev. William (Melva) Johnson; children Maurice Johnson of Decatur and Chris (Ada) Johnson of Hanover, MD; 5 grandchildren, including Durames Johnson and Danielle Brown; 5 great-grandchildren; aunts Catherine of Denver, CO, Luella of Denver, CO, and Laverie of West Memphis, AK; sister-in-law Maxine Johnson; special friend Mr. Wilbert Blue; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, brothers Lennie Johnson, Johnnie Johnson, and Robert Johnson; brothers-in-law John Clemmons, L.C. Richardson, and Freddie Joyner; sister-in-law Denise Johnson; uncles Oscar and Augusta; and grandmother Salonia Williams.
Funeral services for Nay will be held at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Decatur on Monday, July 7, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by a Homegoing Service at 11am. Entombment in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
