Paul Roger Jones' Obituary
Paul Roger Jones, 86, of Decatur, IL, passed away, October 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Paul was born June 20, 1934 in Assumption, IL, the son of Ralph Thomas and Bernice (Nein) Jones. He married Barbara May Lambdin, June 20, 1954. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and preceded him in death, June 22, 2009. He then married Sharon Purviance in the year, 2010. She survives.
Early in his life, Paul had served as a Presbyterian Minister. He spent many years as a farmer, working on his family's farm. During 1969 he, along with his brother opened Motion Raceway and operated it from 1969 – 1980. His heart then led him to work for OMS in Greenwood, IN, building churches, all over the world. He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, designing and helping build multiple homes.
Paul was a member of Fame Evangelical Church in Moweaqua and Moundford Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife Sharon; children, Jerry Jones (Cathalyn) of Assumption, Sally May Weimer (William) of Moweaqua,; step-sons, Stephen Hayes (Libby) Cerro Gordo, IL, Matthew Hayes (Laura) of Riverton, IL, David Hayes (Meaghan) Pewaukee, WI; sister, Carol Butler (Don) of Findlay, IL; grandchildren, Jerad Jones, Amanda Weimer; great grandchildren, Madison, Logan and Zachary.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Ralph David, Robert A and John J. and grandson, William Paul Weimer.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Fame Evangelical Church, Moweaqua, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial of urn will be at Moweaqua Cemetery.
Cremation services will be provided by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
