Paul E. Smith's Obituary
Paul E. Smith, 91, of Decatur passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021
at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.
Paul was born June 28, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, to George and Mabel (Zigenfuss) Smith.
He was a Korean War Veteran who was stationed at Fort Dix and Governor’s Island.
After being discharged from the service he moved to Decatur and married
Luella May Davidson in 1958.
They had two children, Carla (Sid) Showalter and Mark (Brenda) Smith.
Paul worked at Federal Mutual in Decatur and later retired from A.E. Staley.
He enjoyed traveling with his family, playing Scrabble and chess, collecting buckeyes and listening to bluegrass music.
Paul accepted Christ as his Savior later in his life and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He also attended Central Baptist Church.
Paul was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Alice May Snyder and his wife Luella May.
He is survived by his two children, three sisters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Imboden Creek Living Center for their care of Paul.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 13 at 5:00 PM at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave. in Decatur. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Cremation rites will follow.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Central Baptist Church.
