Ralph W. "Skip" Wilcox's Obituary
Decatur-Ralph W. “Skip” Wilcox Jr., 93, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at McKinley Court.
Skip was born August 6, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois the son of Ralph W. and Mildred (Nicholson) Wilcox Sr. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Millikin University and retired from Caterpillar. Skip was a member of Lampstand Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He married Mary Louise “Weezie” Irish on June 19, 1948. They shared over sixty-eight years together.
Skip leaves behind his wife Weezie of Decatur, sons Ralph (Carla) Wilcox III of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Daniel (Tresa) Wilcox of Chatham, Illinois, one brother Michael Wilcox of Salida, Colorado, grandchildren Tim (Brooke) Wilcox, Collin Wilcox, and Erin Wilcox, and great-granddaughter Violet Wilcox.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents, one son Matthew Wilcox, and granddaughter Allison Wilcox.
Graveside services to celebrate Skip’s life will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in Fairlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and Pastor Jack Pitzer officiating. Memorials are suggested to Lampstand Church.
