Randy R. Flaugher's Obituary
DECATUR- Randal 'Randy' Robert Flaugher, 52, died Friday, May 21, 2010 in Decatur.
Services to celebrate Randy's life will be held at 10 am Thursday, May 27, 2010 in the Chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Chevrolet Hall of Fame Car Museum, 3635 East State Rte. 36, Decatur, IL 62521. Randy was born November 20, 1957 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Robert and Lula Jean Flaugher. He graduated in 1976 from Eisenhower High School in Decatur and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois where he received his aviation degree in 1980. Randy's work as a pilot included employment at NW Kellogg Co. in Houston, TX, Decatur Aviation, and work as a corporate pilot for over 20 years at ADM. Recently, he worked as a Manager for the Chevrolet Hall of Fame Car Museum.
Randy's interests included his love for airplanes, especially from WW2. He initially received his pilot's license while still in high school at age 17. He also enjoyed antique cars, trains, and bicycling, participating in such events as the Ragbrai bicycle trip across the state of Iowa. Randy loved animals including his dog Max.
Surviving are, his daughter Margaret Kate Barrett of Austin, Texas; father Robert Flaugher of Decatur; sister Cindy Garcia of Springfield, TN; nephews Joshua and Travis Garcia of Springfield, TN.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Jean Flaugher.
